The Governor of California,Jerry Brown has signed a bill into law that allows transgender students who attend public schools to choose which restrooms to use.The new law also gives those students the freedom to choose whether they want to participate in boys or girls sports.
Apparently, transgender students have been subjected to bullying but this law will help reduce it,supporters said.Masen Davis, Executive Director of Transgender Law Center said-""Now, every transgender student in California will be able to get up in the morning knowing that when they go to school as their authentic self they will have the same fair chance at success as their classmates,”....Fox news reports
Opponents of the bill believe this right allows transgender students to invade the privacy of other students meaning it could have a negative impact on the kids in the long run.
California is the first state to sign the transgender student bill into law which cuts across its 6.2million elementary and high schools.
