HAPPY CANADA DAY

Beautiful Canada

Many of us join in the celebration of Canada Day assuming it’s just another public holiday that offers days off work or school to rest or attend parties and events but truthfully, it’s a lot more than that. This day holds so much memory about where we began as a nation and reminds us of the rich history and culture that make us who we are today.

Canada day celebration

July 1 enabled the joining of the three colonies into one country:  Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and the Canada province which then later split into Ontario and Quebec. Through this holiday we are able to celebrate our history and how far we have come as well as the identity we have established for ourselves as a mosaic nation. Every year on July 1,we celebrate the “birth of our nation”, through public outdoor events such as parades, carnivals, festivals, barbecues, fireworks, musical concerts as well as citizenship ceremonies for new citizens.

Canada day is unlike any other holiday we celebrate, this day marks many of our accomplishments as well as the blending of ethnic groups, languages,
and cultures that co-exist within our society. Happy Canada day
