DAVID MOYES MAKES HIS MARK AS MANCHESTER UNITED BOSS

David Moyes' term at Manchester United began with a trophy after an emphatic 2-0 victory over Wigan in the Community Shield.

Striker,Robin Van Persie scored after 6 minutes, as he powered a header into the corner from Patrice Evra's cross.

Wigan impressed for periods but Van Persie's second goal through a deflection won the match for Manchester United.BBC's Kevin Kilbane said "It was an excellent performance from Manchester United. They dominated Wigan, who did not put David De Gea in the Manchester United goal under any pressure. There were many positives for David Moyes. The win has relieved a little bit of pressure on him."

David Moyes is now saddled with the task of convincing striker,Wayne Rooney to stay at Manchester United.
Rooney expressed his desire to leave Manchester United after Moyes said he will play behind first choice striker,Robin Van Persie.

Manchester United have since rejected two bids from Chelsea FC stating that Rooney is not for sale but Chelsea is expected to make a third bid this week as their Manager Jose Mourinho wants the striker at all cost.

Congratulations to David Moyes on his first trophy since guiding Preston North End to division two title in year 2000.
