COLLEGE DEGREE ≠ CAREER JOB

Are you an unemployed college graduate?  Chances are you are not alone.  According to a recent study completed by the Center for College Affordability and Productivity there are millions out there just like you.
According to this report of 41.7 million working college graduates in 2010, about 48 percent of the class of 2010 work jobs that require less than a bachelor’s degree, and 38 percent of those polled didn’t even need high school diplomas, the report found.  Therefore it is easy to conclude that a lot of money is being spent on producing college graduates that the world doesn’t need.  The report also provided a breakdown of the unemployment rate by profession.  Take a look…

Many solutions have been offered to prevent the unemployed graduate from experiencing shock and anxiety when they are ready to enter the workforce.  Many experts insist that colleges need to advise their students of recent career trends.  Others feel that college students should model their career choices along with these trends.

Most experts agree that the average college student needs to know how much money they are expected to earn in the career field of their choice upon graduation.

Whatever the solution is, college graduates should not be discouraged.  According to the study many are working minimum wage positions until their dream job appears.  The key is to continue searching but not to be afraid to work a less desirable position until that day comes.
The good news is, if you are already working and waiting for your career job to call you in for an interview, the title of this article doesn’t apply to you.
