Japan on Tuesday launched Izumo,its largest warship since World War II.It's said to be 820 foot long and capable of carrying 14 helicopters.The ship however cannot carry planes because it lacks the catapult necessary for seaborne take off.Japanese officials as reported on time.com confirms the Warship will be used exclusively for disaster and rescue missions— in the aftermath of a tsunami, perhaps — as well as for responding to “various contingencies in waters near Japan,”
The Launching ceremony for Izumo was held on Yokohama and It will be deployed in 2015.This move signals Tokyo's continuous naval expansion which China warns against.They(China) says there concerned over Tokyo's never ending military expansion.They also warned the International community to be vigilant about this trend
Territorial disputes have been a major cause of disagreement between these two Asian neighbours
